June 2005 I can only agree with what other reviewers have written about this site. It is wonderful! I think the owners have thought of everything you might need and the site is immaculate thanks to all their hard work.
I never heard the church bells once, but the wind was blowing towards the village most of the time!

February 2005 Me and my other half went here in Feb this year, we both found the site brilliant. Was only the second time we have ever been camping and if we find more sites like this we will never be at home!! Ver easy to find, very well laid out and nicely kept, including the shower/toilet block. We were meant to stay for 2 nights but only managed 1 due to cold weather, but this didnt matter to the wardens. Not far to the pubs in the village, found one doing amazing food (think it was the Plough) and really enjoyed our night here. Will be back another day, hopefully for longer this time.

May 2005 Spent a nice couple of nights here. Our first time at the site. We were impressed by the location within a stroll of the village, and also the spotless toilet and shower facilities. The site appeared to be well run. The site will be a little better landscaping-wise when it matures, but I wouldn't hestitate in going back.
We camped in the field adjacent to the main area, and only heard the church clock at night once all weekend.

June 2005 What a great campsite. I think this campsite has only been in existence for 2 - 3 years and the owner told me this was the bussiest they had been to date....and I'm not surprised as word of mouth must be spreading how good this one is!
We had a very friendly and warm welcome by the owner and were allowed to choose our own pitch. The facilities are good as they are new (and well looked after), the toilets and washroom facilities were all very clean and tidy (with piped music too!). The owners realise that they need to provide additional washroom facilities and have a planning application in to allow them to build a new block and new reception area.
Other reviewers have mentioned the church bells chiming every hour. I'm sure they did but we were in the top field and the wind was obviously in the wrong direction for us to hear them regularly.
The village of Greetham offers pubs and a shop within 5 to 10 minutes walk. we thought the food in The Plough was really good value.
The next village Cottersmore offers a Fish & Chip shop and slightly larger village shop but we went to the lovely town of Oakham where there is obviously a greater choice of shops.
Back to the campsite, we chose this site for its relatively close location to Rutland Water. We had a couple of trips to Rutland Water for walks and activities such as rock climbing!!
Overall we would recommend this campsite. It felt very safe as well if you have children. One last thing, although only a stones throw from RAF Cottersmore there was little noise from the Harriers and anyway they don't fly at weekends usually.

May 2005 We visited over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend after having read the other reviews on this site. Everything stated by everyone else is correct. The site was full but was still coping adequately with the numbers. The owner Paul and his wide are extremely frienfly and helpful.
We stayed on the tent field which is a little walk to the amenity block, but there was loads of space and our children enjoyed playing football, cricket, rounders etc with anyone else who would play.
Excellent meal at the Black Sheep, although a little pricey. Also eat at the Wheatsheaf which has more basic pub grub.
Go there! You'll have a great time.

May 2005 We went on this site for Bank Holiday, it was great, pictures of the site on the website did not do it justice. It was so quiet, no road noise at all, very peaceful. The village is lovely and is only a 2 minute stroll, 3 pubs with great food and a nice atmosphere. If heading out for food make sure you are in the pub for 8.15pm latest as they do stop serving food before 9pm sometimes a little earlier, the nearest cash machine is in Oakham so make sure you have cash on you before you start on the beers. Would recommend!!!

May 2005 Just been back for our second visit to this lovely site. Had a great weekend and then left my in-laws at the site for the week on their own. They also really loved the site and were impressed with the facilities and how clean and tidy they were kept. The sandpit had caused children to leave dirty marks on the walls over the bank holiday weekend, the wardens quickly painted during the week and when we came back to collect the caravan the toilets were back to their pristine condition. Tried "The Sun" pub in Cottesmore this time, lovely food and very friendly atmosphere.

May 2005 We chose this site for our first ever camping trip, and certainly made the right choice. The site was kept very nice. It was all flat and well drained. The shower and toilet block were kept very clean, condidering it was Bank Holiday and was almost full. There was only 3 showers in the Ladies and Mens, but there didnt seem too much of a que for them, but there were signs up saying that they are hoping to build another block soon. The site was located next to a very nice little village with three nice pubs. The owners of the site were also very welcoming and approachable.
Our only gripe with this site, which I am surprised hasn't been mentioned before, was the village church clock which is very close to the site. It bongs every hour all day and night (once for 1 oclock, twise for 2 oclock etc. etc.), and if you are a light sleeper, it can keep you up all night. But that certainly should not put you off the site as everything else was so nice.

September 2004 Very nice campsite, very friendly warden who gave me a pitch away from the famaily pitches which was very welcome as I had cycled to the site from Oxfordshire and was very tired. Toilets were very impressive with large self contained cubicles and very clean. Facilties for waste, water and washing up were also of a high standard. The only negative thing was the church bells which chimed on the hour throughout the night and were quite close. The site appear very secure with electric gates with the warden was sited infront of the gate. On the whole this was a very impressive site and I will probably return with the family.

May 2005 Just returned from the bank holiday weekend. Lovely, quiet site with very friendly warden who even offered to help us pitch our tent as we arrived in pitch black! Never heard any aircraft noise whilst we were there. Spotlessly clean toilet block (cleaned at least 3 times a day) - 3 showers and 4 toilets. They are planning another toilet/shower block in near future which will be welcome although only had to queue for a short while on one occasion. They are also planning to provide a play area to cater for older children. Even have a butcher who visits site on Tuesdays and an ice-cream van visited daily. Will definately be adding to my list of sites to return to.
