Stayed here with the UKCampsite.co.uk New Years Eve Meet and was also here in september 2006. Excellent site and facilities make you very welcome on your arrival. Electric gate to get in, no card required just a pass code to be put into pad so no deposit to pay. Toilets and shower block were clean, tidy and very warm, enjoy the radio whilst having a shower or other. Dogs welcome, but must be kept on lead at all times. Sand park for the kids to play on and couple of pubs in the local village. Overall I would give this site 9/10 and will definatly be going back in 2007.

Just back from a couple of days here and concur with all the good things said about this site. I set my sat nav to the post code but decided to ignore it when I saw signs for the site. Not sure where the sat nav was trying to take me but there is not a lot around this site, its in the middle of nowhere! Wardens are very friendly and do a good job at keeping the site clean and tidy.
The surrounding countryside is very flat and there's not much shelter by way of trees so the site is quite exposed to wind.
The site has wifi internet and we paid £3 for a two night stay for this which worked well in our van although we were pitched near to reception and to the aerial.
There's a fish and chip shop in the next village (5 mins drive) where you can sit in and eat if you want. Nearest town seems to be Oakham, about 7 miles away where there are numerous shops and a good Tesco.
Will definitely return to this site but maybe when its a bit warmer!

A very pleasant site that appears to be right in the middle of nowhere but its not too far to drive to several attractions, and not too far to walk to the local pub (would recommend taking a torch for the walk back though). facilities are among, if not the best I have ever used. clean, warm and plenty to go round - oh and Rutland Radio to listen too while you are in there :) we are already looking forward to our next trip here

All I can say is well done to the owners they have made this site a very pleasant site to stay on, the first time we stayed was new year, but what a change since then, they have a great playing area for the children, also the new shower block is warm, clean and well keep-ed. The small games room is worth a visit if the weather turns bad.the site is in a perfect place to explore the surrounding area, the owner's and managers are always on hand to help out if needed, we can't wait to go back as its such a quite and relaxing site well worth a visit !

This is a lovely site with clean facilities, lovely hot showers and level pitches. We visited on Bank Holiday weekend and had a fantastic break. The nearby villages are beautiful and there are lots of nice walks in the area. We were kept awake one night by a couple arguing but the security man soon came over and told them to pack it in! (How embarrassing!) I can particularly recommend the eggs from the reception out of 4 eggs 3 had double yolks and the other one had a huge single yolk - delicious! Children's playground is great and best of all the site is relatively inexpensive. The only thing amiss really is that it would be good if reception were to sell milk and bread but you can't have everything can you?

First camping trip and it rained with strong winds. Any sane person would have give up but we loved it. Campsite facilities were excellent and having two young children it was great that wherever you were you were close to a toilet / shower block. Blocks which were always clean, fresh and it was lovely to have music playing in them all the time. Definitely returning, hopefully in better weather.

What a great site, as others have said on here the attention to detail is great, we had a pitch with EHU which was situated right next to the under 5s play area, with our 3 year old and 18 month old twins it was great to be able to just let them play. The toilet blocks were spotless, showers nice and hot and the baby change / bathing area was also nice to see. The wireless internet access was also a nice surprise at a very reasonable extra cost, and came in very useful when the heavens opened and we decided to find the nearest take-away. Just a couple of things to note, the church in the village chimes every hour from 6 to 10, so if that kind of thing bothers you take some ear plugs, also the path down to the village is laid with fairly dense gravel, which was very difficult to get the pushchair down. This was our 1st experience using an EHU, and the pitch seemed a little cramped compared to the non EHU pitches we have visited recently, but until I have experienced others it wouldn’t be fair to take this criticism too seriously.

We visited this campsite for three nights and stayed in the adults only field. We had a great weekend the campsite is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The village is a five minute walk away although the track is very dark so you will need a torch. There are three pubs in the village and would highly recommend 'The Plough' for its food and choice of real ales. We will definitely be staying here again, the only complaints we had is that the ground is very hard and a nightmare for tent pegs. The only other thing which was no fault of the site was that some people would let their dogs off the lead on the site and let them run around. As we have two dogs who can be a little protective of who is around the tent this caused us a bit of an issue. Other than that a fantastic site in a fantastic location.

Went here last week for two nights, on our first camping trip. We struck lucky as it is brill! Showers/toilets clean. Kids (6&8) loved the play area and the site is very secure. It was very windy and we struggled getting the tent up in the wind, but the wind did drop over the weekend. However, the wind did get up again as we were putting the tent down and a gust managed to snap two of our three poles!.Maybe this is an exposed site?.We don't know as we have never been camping before. We pitched near to the kids play area which was great for our kids in the day, but older kids were still ramming the go carts into each other at 11pm! Which was very noisy! Also my husband woke with every church chime as he is a light sleeper. Best bit was the Red Arrows were doing a display and we had a prime view of this for free!
