Couldn't have been more impressed with how we were treated and the quality of the campsite. We stayed for 2 nights in June with a family of 9 in 2 separate tents and 4 children. The owners were extremely helpful on arrival (especially the Scottish lady). The campsite sits on the edge of a lovely village that is accessed via a country lane in-between open fields. The children friendly area overlooks a lovely sand play area with swings. It is not too busy and everyone is friendly. Each site had EHU and easy water access.
There is also a brand new indoor pool and a hot tub to hire. The shop is well stocked. Everything is so clean and well kept.
It is a short stroll into the village to enjoy very nice pubs. We also ate in the Sun Inn in Cottismore (5 min drive away) and that was superb with a good children's play area.
I also recommend a trip to Rutland Water which has an array of leisure facilities. We will be back!

First the good points. Toilets and showers spacious and clean - plenty of hot water.
Now the rest. Roadways are so full of deep potholes its difficult to avoid damaging your unit. Would be very easy to damage a motor mover on potholes. Although the weather could be blamed this site is advertised as being a 365 day a year site, so I would expect better.
Wardens not very welcoming and listing off the many rules didn't help. We arrived with a 12 month old baby, and as we had booked to be on the children's side of the site, we thought we would be fine to visit friends on the adult only part of the site. Warden made it very clear that this would not be allowed.
All the pitches are fully serviced although ours had a broken drainage access and could not be used. Although I spoke to groundsman, he was not interested in resolving the issue.
First two days of our visit, complete site kept loosing its electric. The only way we found out about this was that we couldn't get in to the site as the security barriers wouldn't open. A female warden shouted this to us in a very aggressive manner. No electric was quite a worry with a baby on board and low temperatures. Sunday morning and this time no water available. It wouldn't be so bad if staff even tried to offer an explanation as to what was going on.
Given that this site is £30 a night even at Easter, I would have expected either an apology or some form of compensation from the site. Instead, on departure, not even a 'have a safe journey' was uttered. Clearly a site more interested in making money than satisfying its customers. We will not be returning.

Fantastic site. Very clean. Busy when we were there so had to use family area which was quite noisy with the kids, would have preferred adult side as the showers were excellent, also had a dog shower. Very secure and safe with electronic gates around the site both for walking to town and at main gates. Splendid swimming pool as a bonus. Short walk to town with 2 lovely pubs and a shop. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a holiday in this area.

We were looking for somewhere open and not far away to try out our new van. Not disappointed we chose this site although not completely our cup of tea. The initial greeting wasn't the greatest but hey ho. Its a caravan club affiliated site so very 'regimental' in its approach ie park here, van here, awning here, car here etc.
Facilities are excellent and very clean.
Village is great and I recommend both pubs, The Plough and especially The Wheatsheaf which is top quality.
From a personal point of view this site in the summer would be too busy for us, but this time of year it was ideal. We would return but only in the quieter months.

Superb! A cold and wet weekend. Not many pitches taken but everything open. The Plough Pub was great! Nice places nearby - Melton, Oakham etc. A great weekender from Northampton. I had the feeling it would be a warm and welcoming family place during the summer. We will put it top of our return site list!

A really excellent site. It was very quiet as it was January when we were there and it will probably be busy in Summer but there is plenty of space between pitches so shouldn't be a problem. 2 wet rooms in ladies toilet (in the Adult area) apart from the normal showers and all had underfloor heating - absolutely brilliant. A massive dog walk. Only 5/10 minutes walk into the local village where there are two pubs. Only the Plough was open when we were there and that did ok food but the Wheatsheaf is normally open and I believe that is a little better. About 5 miles to Rutland Water and about 10 miles to Stamford which is a lovely town and has quite a large market on Fridays. Didn't use the swimming pool but it looks great. In summer there is also a cafe on site which does cooked breakfasts.

The site is caravan club affiliate which came as a slight surprise as I mistakenly thought it was a Caravan and Camping Club site when I booked however, the extra £1 per night for non-caravan club members was not too much of a drama.
A large, well maintained site with a good number of fully serviced pitches that are level and well drained.
The Toilet block in the Adults area has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and the tree lined dog-walk is really good, well maintained and very good sized.
Access to the site is down a narrow lane with passing places but the surface is good and smooth and you can see other vehicles coming well in advance.
The site has a heated swimming pool but charges by the half hour and is not cheap.
From the site you can take the path through the dog walk area to a controlled gate that leads to the village of greetham.
We visited the Plough inn in the village for lunch and it's a great little pub, closes at 2. 30 pm until 6. 30 during the week but is open all day at weekends.
The nearby Rocks by Rail museum covers the regions iron ore opencast mining and is well worth a visit.
The downside,
The site team were not the most friendly bunch I've come across, helpful yes but friendly, no.
Be aware that visitors are expected to pay £1 per person and that, if you are booked on to an Adults pitch, your 2 year old granddaughter will not be allowed to visit (no children - it's the rules) despite the fact that families had to walk through the Adults area to get to the nature walk and the back gate to Greetham.
Overall, handy for the A1: handy for Rutland water, Melton Mowbray and the famous pork pies, Oakham, Stamford and peterborough but not a site I will be revisiting soon.

A very nice site with clean shower and toilet facilities. The ground itself is well kept and nice and flat. Although it was busy it wasn't noisy and all dogs well behaved. The only thing the cafe is very expensive even just for breakfast butties. But the pub down the road (the Plough) is great and cheaper!
The checkin time is until 8pm but we were being called at 7. 20 asking where we were and a sly comment they were about to close up when we got there at 7. 30 was a bit off. But the stay was lovely overall and Rutland Water is a short drive away.

An exceptionally pleasant site with nice toilet/shower block, had a very wide fully serviced pitch in the adult area. There are now only two pubs in the village so it was an easy walk to the Plough which I thought a nice village local with decent food and a few real ales so didn't try the Wheatsheaf which is further away anyway. One thing not mentioned in previous reviews is the two hourly bus service from the village to either Oakham or Melton.
