Have to say that we did not enjoy our stay at this site at all. The only positive thing I can mention is that the pitch sizes on field 6 were very large. The site is big and was fully booked during our stay, there were lots of unsupervised children on bicycles and on foot; as there is no pathway and the play area and swimming pool are near to the entrance of the site, trying to manouevre a car around the site takes lots of patience! We paid £15 per night which is the most we have paid so far (probably paying for the facilities pub etc) but these really are inadequate for the size of the site, 150 pitches and less than 20 showers (which are unisex cubicles on the end of the toilet blocks)- 20p, a pub with about 6 tables for families - no room to move or sit on a blustery August evening. At the top of field 6 there was a small toilet block (4 cubicles in the ladies), nowhere to put toilet bag and be prepared to queue to brush your teeth. No washing up facilities towards this end of the site, so you have to use the central area - again queuing to wash up, very cramped and almost stressful. Oh and the site seems to be on the flight path from Manchester airport or similar as planes passing over head continuously through day and night. The Peak District itself absolutely beautiful - we recommend a visit to Bakewell. I would revisit the area

Well what can I say! Don't know where the complainants of this site stayed. It is an excellent site :o) The tent pitches are very generous (we have an 8 berth tent) there was room for the tent, car & an area we put our windbreaks up for privacy / play area. The site was clean, the toilets cleaned twice a day (am & pm) loo roll plentiful too! showers clean, bar clean, pool clean & very useful for amusing the children (there is also a splash pool for tinies) the play area is lovely too (young/unaware children will need supervising to & from this as it is next to the main road through, but it is fenced off. If you want to be ultra lazy (well us mums need a holiday too!) the cafe serves takeaway food - varied & good quality. The curfew/quiet down time is 11 pm - 9am, this was enforced by a security type chap - who was doing his job. This made the site lovely in the evening. I seriously can not find a negative point about this site and will definitely be returning for a further visit soon.

On arrival to this site alarm bells started ringing as we queued all the way down a steep hill to get in (not a bank holiday or half term, just a Friday evening!). When we got to our pitch, it was unkempt, very uneven and very close to the neighbours. If we had been able to drive our metal awning poles into the 'concrete', there would still not have been enough room for our standard sized awning. We had paid plenty for the pitch and were refunded the extra awning cost with no quibble. Facilities were average, the shower pitiful and 20p despite a pricey pitch fee (never had to pay for a shower before and always had hot water) and the chemical disposal point required waders and a gas mask! The pool and the playground were great and the kids really enjoyed them. There was a lovely dog walk and picturesque amble into town. The pub/ beer garden were great if you like that sort of thing. Overall if you like Butlins then this will be right up your street, if you want a quiet getaway then look elsewhere!

I hadnt planned to go away and booked this last minute, mainly due to the outdoor pool in the current heatwave! I didnt expect to like the site but was very pleasantly surprised. We were in field 5 ( no EHUs left) which is a lovely big field with tents / tourers around the perimeter and all the families playing cricket or other games in the centre of an evening. The showers were 20p for 4minutes or so, but worth every penny as they were individual rooms rather than a big block and were very warm, but with plenty of room to put your clothes, etc. Toilets and showers were finished to a very high standard and although the site was busy, were always in good condition. The caravans on the hardstanding were very cramped for space, if I went again I would certainly ask for an EHu on grass or just go without electric but the tent fields were lovely, as you couldnt have put an awning up on most of the EHU pitches I saw. Games room was very reasonably priced and the pub and "village green" area was lovely, especially when they had entertainment on the green at night. Good shop, well kept site overall, great play area and ball games areas and of course the swimming pool was the major attraction in the heatwave. There wasnt much sunbathing space for adults around the pool, sadly and you arent allowed to take your own food or drink into the pool area, or near the pub where the picnic tables are. Would definitely visit again, surrounding area was lovely, staff all young but very well trained.

Just got home from the campsite we found it was the most relaxing holiday we have had in a long time all the staff were helpful and very friendly. We found the showers where very clean and we thought it was a good idea to charge 20p for 4 minutes as this prevented queues. The campsite was fully booked and the toilets and showers were still very clean. The pool was very busy in the shallow end the other end of the pool was for to deep (7'6") for non swimmers to go there but it was very clean and we all enjoyed it. We have a child with special needs and the staff where very helpful and understanding. We found the meals in the cafe bar were reasonably priced and enjoyable and they are also available for takeaway. The shop was well stocked and they where open all day everyday. We plan to go back soon but for a longer period of time as there was a lot to do locally as well as on site.

We've been here a couple of times before for a weekend so decided to try it for a week this time. In the end we left early, having mixed feelings about it. The pitches are very cramped and there aren't enough toilet facilities when the site is full - which it generally is at weekends. Mediocre showers cost 20p - which considering that it's an expensive site is bit off. Feels like a real money-making enterprise.
Having said that, if you have kids then they're likely to have a ball - great play area, swimming pool etc - and the arcade and games rooms are great for when the weather's poor. The Saturday evening on the pub green is also a family treat. It's an ideal base for an area that's packed with places to visit. But they do seem to attract a certain element

First time visiting the site and left feeling a bit disappointed. We were pitched in field 5 which was a great field for the kids. On the Saturday evening the toilet block in field 6 had run out of toilet paper and because the site was full the 4 toilets and 3 sinks were just not enough, hair and toothpaste were abundant in the sinks!
The washing up facilities are good and reasonably clean and the showers were fantastic (but I wouldn't expect anything less when you have to pay extra for them). The site started to empty on the Sunday but this only meant the facilities got less - only the main toilet block was open which then due to increased usage meant the toilets wouldn't flush.
The swimming pool was very refreshing and the kids were happy enough. Sadly we found out that the pub wasn't open all day so we took our custom into Ashbourne and had the best chips ever!
The onsite shop was fab and stocked most things you would want. Site security was good and the fishing lake a surrounding areas are beautiful.
The facilities for children are good and the playground is situated by the washing up area which I found handy for my 4 year old. Overall an OK site.

Swimming pool was lovely. Toilets were very clean. Shop was excellent and pub looked nice even though we didn't go in there. The playground was great for the children. Very disappointed in the pitch sizes in Field 2. There wasn't enough room for a full size awning, the caravan and the car but they were happy to charge you for an awning. Field 2 was very cramped. Other caravans were right on top of you. Pitches were badly kept and unclean. Due to the above we wouldn't be returning as for the same price you can get spacious grass or hardstanding pitches elsewhere. Where you empty your toilet there was filth all over the floor and it was very badly kept. On other sites these areas have been as spotless as the toilets. I was amazed to discover that to have a shower it would cost you 20p. As they don't tell you this we turned up with no 20p's with wet children from the swimming pool and then had to go to the shop to get the change! A good shower would cost 40p and in the one we used there was just a dribble of water. I was sure that in with the cost we would be able to get a warm shower! All in all I was disappointed, however, the pool was lovely and we still had a good time. Be careful of the speed bumps too on the way in and out, you could easily damage the bottom of your caravan. We would definitely return to the area though. The Derbyshire Dales were beautiful.

Fantastic site. The leisure facilities for adults and children are extremely good. The only real downside is that there doesn't seem to be enough toilet facilities for the number of pitches. We were in the bottom corner of field 6 which was quite a distance away from the toilet block. The gents only contained two urinals, four toilets and three sinks which was inadequate for the number of people on fields 6 an 7. The showers were in the main block which was just a bit further away.
Having said that we had a great time, the weather was magic and although the pool was quite busy, there was plenty of room to swim and cool off. We went with quite a large party and no one had a bad word to say about the site.
Will definitely go again. It's just a pity we had to drown our sorrows on Saturday instead of celebrating an England win in the World Cup.

Had a lovely weekend, weather was fantastic. Our pitch was on field 5 and was huge. We have stayed there before on field 6 and 7 but found that these pitches can be along walk to the showers, kitchen unit, toilets and all other facilities. The camp site have placed a toilet block now in field 6 which is useful, however there are only 4 ladies toilets and only 3 sinks which is no way enough to cope with all the tents on field 6 and 7. The toilets were dirty, 2 of the doors would not lock due to the angle of the block (you had to hold the doors shut whilst on the loo), not one of the toilet seats were fitted correctly and the block was out of loo roll and soap from 1am Saturday morning until very late afternoon this was the norm every day. The walk to the toilet block, the entrance and steps were not suitable at all for the young or someone unstable on their feet or even someone visiting the loo in the dark due to holes, large stones and uneven surfaces. The site was very clean and tidy but it is very pricey and I personally feel they are asking too much for the pitches and then all the added extras for a gazebo or extra people make the cost add up.
Lovely setting and is very secure the rules on noise are monitored and adhered to. Would definitely go again.
