August 2002 (last visit) THE campsite that caters for every need. If you have kids, your lauphing!! They will have all the entertainment they need. But if you dont and want some peace, you can have that too. Large camping fields that are well set out and spacious. We first went to Derbyshire two up on a motorcycle, just me and the wife and were turned away by nearly all the other local sites. We were welcomed and treated just like everyone else at callow top, its great. We have gone back there at least twice a year ever since. Lovely clean facilites and very friendly people running the place, What more could you ask for!!!! Absolute *****

july 2002 We had our first family camping experience at Callow Top and enjoyed it so much we are heading back there next week. Nice, friendly atmosphere with excellent toilets and showers and good outdoor pool and pub. Combined with beautiful countryside, close to Alton Towers it's a definite winner!
one downside- it was noisy quite early in the morning!

19th July We loved the site - very clean and lots of facilities for children. As expected the site was very busy which meant if you had time to wait for a shower/washing up facilities, the water was cold! We had a pitch with electric hook-up but there wasn't any room for the children to play. Despite this the children loved it and we would definately go back in lower season.

July19th/20th 2002 I would definitely recommend this site. We arrived on the early evening on the Friday, it was, as expected very busy and a lot of families with children who were catered for with a decent size play area, swings, slide etc. also there was a separate 'building' kitted out with numerous games machines. The toilet and shower blocks we found were very clean and well maintained. There is a pub on site which did meals upto 9pm. For walkers/cyclists the Tissington Trail is reached via the incoming road to the site.

July2002 Visited just before school holidays on a weekend. Site busy & numbered pitches for caravans and tents seemed close together. We were what seemed to be in what appeared to be an 'overflow' field (no.6) And was a lot better for it. Away from the play area and pool! Excellent for access to the Tissington bike trail and not far to walk into Ashbourne. Toilet facilities V. good as were the shower if a little bit busy. Overall not a bad site if a bit busy. Good pub, not overpriced.
