Stayed for one week, staff were superb very helpful and knowledgeable re local area. Had to use TV link on EHU to get freeview and friends really struggled with Sat systems because of trees. There are 3 shower blocks on site and we were nearest to the one at the entrance, always very clean but always very busy! With only one way in and out the road outside of our pitch was very busy virtually all day, add to that the children were using the slope as a race track for bikes and scooters, I fear an accident is just waiting to happen. The site is much bigger than this website states with a mix of tents and tourers there were over 250 pitches, and on the day we left they were converting the playing field to take more tents and the pitch number outside our caravan was 285! Considering the already inadequate facilities we were glad to be leaving. Poole offers a good range of shops and supermarkets that will cater for all your needs. The site has a play area for children and a games room with 1 pool table and 1 arcade type machine. Cycling was an issue in the area because cycle paths would end abroubtly and start again some distance down the road normally on the other side of the road. The solution was to transport the bikes to the local park some 2 miles away and then cycle. Would I stay there again sorry no.

Received a warm welcome on arrival and were duly shown to our pitch. Didn't take long to realise that it was what appeared to be the only one on site in the shade under a very large tree (which also blocked the sat dish).
The helpful wardens soon managed to juggle bookings around and we were soon allocated another pitch.
Facilities on site were good and the toilet/shower block was very clean.
As motorhomers, public transport close to the site is important to us and a bus stop right outside the site with regular buses to Poole and Swanage was perfect.
A revisit to this one is a definite yes

We visited in June for a week with our rather large tent (Outwell Vermont XLP with side extension) and the pitch we had was amazing, very large with plenty of space around even with the size of this tent. We did book a super pitch with electric and TV hook up which in my opinion was definitely worth the money.
The site is spotless all the time, the staff are friendly (bar one that was quick to acuse of taking a TV aerial hook up cable from the shop without paying, only to be told by his wife that we had actually paid - no apology came forward though!)
Toilet and showers, spotless and very well maintained, washing areas were covered and never had to queue for anything.
The walk from the campsite to the local pub is lovely and really is only ten minutes at a stroll. We used the site as a base to get out and about as it was centrally located for Bournemouth, Pool and we had to pay a visit to West Bay (being a big Broadchurch fan) and of course Durdle Door although the walk back up nearly killed me!
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site and can totally understand why it has it's 5* rating.
We will most definitley be returning.

We visited South Lytchett for a weekend with 4 tents, 8 people in all. When we phoned them, the owners made a dispensation for a group booking as some of the group are pensioners and not likely to be noisy. We all respected that, and behaved in the right way. It seems everyone on site also was very quiet from 10pm onwards, so it must be infectious.
We were given a warm welcome, shown to our pitch by a nice lady and given good instructions on exactly where to pitch to the metre to cover 'elf and safe tea' needs. We were also provided with the wine vouchers for the pub which knocked over £40 off our meal for 8 people, making the value of camping here even better if you plan to eat out one night.
Lovely, well manicured clean and very quiet site. We were pitched together close to the entrance and the children's' playground with electric hookups (and TV if you are that addicted!). It is a nice area of the site, convenient for the loos and showers. The ground was reasonably flat, just dropping off slightly towards the fence with grass in good condition under the tents. Wardens were friendly but non-intrusive and stopped for a chat as they were showing new arrivals to their pitches.
Unlike other reviews on here, we didn't get any noticeable road noise and slept like logs both nights. Mind you, we had 25mph winds with stronger gusts howling through the trees so the road noise would probably have been drowned out.
Facilities were spotless, warm and the piped music in the loos / showers and food prep / wash-up area was good for folks of our age group (70s / 80s music). The small shop held most things that you would require, but as usual, we had all ours with us. Having said that, the weather on Saturday meant that our group BBQ was cancelled, so we nipped to the decent fish and chip takeaway a mile or so back towards Poole.
It's not far to Poole, just a few miles and if you do not want to drive, there is a bus stop outside the site.
We can't fault this site, which seemed to encourage good camping etiquette while we were there. Pricewise, I reckon it is good value given the first-class facilities. We will be going back for another weekend later this year.

This site is five star in every way - we would not normally go to any site that was not adult only but we made an exception in this case and how glad we were.
Toilets and showers excellent. Clean at all times.
Everyone on the site was very friendly. We were greeted and taken to our pitch on arrival. The pitch was spacious and an addition was the glorious sunshine we had all week.
Easy walk to the pub with lovely meals plus a free bottle of wine on our first visit.
The Craft Village again just a short walk with lots to see plus a small tearoom/restaurant that did breakfast and lunch.
Bus into Poole and Bournemouth just outside the gates.
Car didn't move all week.

Just returned from short break at South Lytchett. Luckily we chose a sunny week! The site is very clean and well maintained. The shower block was pristine with piped music (not quite sure about the continual piped music!). There was a small shop on site which was useful. Also the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Its location is absolutely ideal for travelling to the many beautiful beaches and tourist attractions in the vicinity. The No. 40 bus is a godsend! In fact the entire bus service in and around the Poole area was excellent. Us lucky ones with bus passes made full use of it as was apparent every time we boarded a rather full 'grey wave' bus!
The only criticism I have, which unfortunately is out of the hands of the management, was of the continual noise from the nearby major road. It never seemed to stop, even during the night! We were in a tent and therefore the noise was more apparent! We will certainly return on another sunny week to do more site seeing in and around the Dorset coast!

Well positioned, very clean site. Took off on our bikes afew times with 4 and 7 yr olds. Defo recommend upton park and house with great cycle routes (only 20mins cycle from site).
Lots of open space for kids to play and small but well maintained play area. Walked to local pub- st peters finger- via field. Great food, small play area for kids.
From poole (again can cycle) we went to brownsea island for the day- would recommend, esp if national trust members!
Would recommend site and will be back (birds are noisy, but you have to love nature)

We visited over the May bank holiday weekend and although I suspect the site was full (or close to full) it didn't seem overcrowded. Good layout that spreads people about.
Shower block facilities were good although the shower heads don't give you much water - possibly this helps the site meet it's admirably high environmental standards.
Staff were all very helpful and the site is kept in very good order. We were very impressed with how neat and tidy everything looked.
The pub you can walk to (St Peter's Finger) offers a good choice of beers/wines and food and offers campers at this site a free bottle of wine (or a couple of pints). Worth a visit but do book on a sunny weekend.
Great location for Poole and surrounding area and I would probably return. Only slight reservation was cost - it does seem expensive compared to other sites we have stayed at in the area. That said you can see that they are re-investing to make it a great family site.

I concur with other reviewers of this site as to its facilities and its proximity to Poole.
As a disabled camper who uses both a wheelchair and a small scooter my comments are based on what I need to make the stay enjoyable. There are three toilet/shower blocks, two of which have disabled facilities, basically wet rooms with piped music and separate heaters if you get cold. A nice touch was an independent seat so that you could dry yourself, without having to sit on the shower or toilet seat. I often have to ask for one. The wash basin did not have a plug which would be useful. The room is locked with a key obtainable from reception for a refundable £5 deposit, make sure you ask for one. We were informed one was not needed as they were unlocked, only to return from Poole to find the toilet near my pitch was locked, by other users. Luckily I had just enough power in my scooter to travel all the way to the one near reception which was unlocked. Access to the toilet blocks is over gravel which in places is difficult to get through. There are quite a number of sleeping policeman on site but can be easily bypassed on the grass.
Access to the village pub can be achieved by using a good footpath on the main road. Access to the craft centre was not so easy as there is no footpath on the road outside which is quite busy I spoke to the
Staff in reception about some of my issues and they were extremely helpful and understanding Overall it was a very enjoyable visit midweek and would certainly go there again

Lovely family run site. Some extra touches such as herb garden you can help yourself to, so our friend, a chef, was delighted he could add basil to his mozzarella and tomato salad. There are hens on site so we had fresh eggs with our bacon butties in the morning.
The staff was all very friendly and polite. Taken to our spacious pitch and advised where to put the footprint to pitch to their rules. When the ball pump broke, let my husband borrow tools to fix it.
Site nice and clean, flowers, great ball area, and small kids play area. Veg prep/dish wash area is inside, and lovely and warm.
Toilets cleanest we have ever had, with music playing. Our only criticism is that they could do with some more showers. I was ok as I get up early, had the place to myself and a sing in the shower. But on the Bank Holiday Monday, when everyone was leaving/up at the same time was busy. I had just decided to have one at home, as taking the tent down is a dusty/dirty job! So it didn’t matter to me.
Only gave 9/10 for child friendliness as when you press the sink taps as soon as you let go they stop. They could do with a delay, as the kids need 2 hands to press so difficult to use.
You can hear some road noise, but it was fine. There are some beautiful places to visit round and about. Loved the way they have a document to download with things to do via bus. Pity the buses are not more regular though. Sundays, every 2 hours, so resorted to the car.
We all said would definitely return to this site.
