The site has apparently had a lot of money spent on it, and I have to say it does show. We were in the small field just behind the shop/reception. The toilet/showers have to be some the best in the business, modern and clean and they even have piped music (Bananarama seemed to popular for some reason!). In the men's there were 3 shower cubicles and a couple of wash basin cubicles. I'm told this was the same for the ladies. The showers were free and hot and there is a mop to clean up. There are also 2 family shower rooms (also have a toliet in them too) and a washing up room with 3 sinks at the side of the same block. This top field also has a small and popular play park which was perfect for us as we could sit outside and keep an eye on our kids. Being close to the play area meant it was a bit noisy, but once it got dark all the kids vanished so it wasn't a problem. I think this is a popular area as the pitches appeared to be quite worn. There is a pub, St Peters Finger, about 10 minutes walk (out of the imposing front gate and turn right). It's more of a restaurant than pub, but the food was OK. Another pub recommended to us was the Rose and Crown in Lytchett Matravers. About a 5 minute drive (out of the gate, turn left, left again and just keep going). Very friendly 'local' pub with good and reasonably priced food. Plenty of options for shops and supermarkets with the centre of Poole only a 10 minute drive. At weekends the site opens a BBQ for breakfasts and evenings. Didn't try it ourselves but it smelt good! Spent a couple of days on the beach in Swanage. Got the Steam train from the park and ride station near Corfe (think it was about £20 for a familt ticket). The next day we drove into Swanage where parking seems to be quite pricey, £6 for 4 hours or £9 for upto 24 hours. Also went to Brownsea Island which was a great day, but be warned the ferry is about £20 for a family ticket and you then have to pay the NT entrance fee on top. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go back. My only criticism would be that the part of the site nearest the gate does suffer with a bit of traffic noise at times. Overall a great site in a great location for exploring Poole and Purbeck.

Difficult to add anything that hasn't already been said.
We were in the bottom field, which we had almost to ourselves for the first couple of days. It filled up a bit after that, possibly because the promising weather forecast brought out the fair-weather campers! (only joking!). But there was plenty of room for our kids to play without disturbing anyone else, or getting under our feet! Thanks to heavy rain for most of the week before we arrived, the field was very wet underfoot, especially through the gate. It soon dried out once the sun was on it though.
New toilet block is excellent, as is the attached washing up and veg prep area. But best of all, everyone there seemed to appreciate the facilities and always left them clean and tidy for the next person. The shop seemed ok, but to be honest we hardly used it. We were surprised newspapers weren't available.or maybe they were, but we didn't get there early enough! Friendly and helpful staff, even down to finding us some rope to lash the cover of our trailer down after the elastic bungee rope on the cover snapped. That enabled us to get to the nearest B&Q to get more rope to secure the trailer for the motorway!
A couple of very minor criticisms: Despite signs saying not to, some people insisted on bringing their vehicles onto the site after 11pm - perhaps a time lock on the barrier would be in order? Also, a lot of young kids were riding bikes around after dark with no lights. My wife very nearly got hit by one! But in fairness, that is down to the parents rather than the site management.
Plenty to see and do in the area. A lovely part of the country. We have already decided to return next year.

We booked a spot with a hook-up and were given a spot at the bottom end of the campsite, under some trees. This is the quieter area of the site and although not quite nice as the big field where most of the tents end up, it did have the advantage that is was nicely shaded by larger trees and there were less kids running around so it was easier to get our baby to sleep.
There are toilets and washing up facilities very near to this end of the site, although they do leave a lot to be desired. The main toilets are lovely though, clean and spacey. They do have a policy of asking you to mop the floor when you have finished your shower, which I did every morning, except the morning the couldn't provide me with hot water!
There are quite a lot of pitches next to the road which I wouldn't have liked but there were mostly caravans or long stayers.
Overall a nice site which I would recommend.

We stayed at this site for 3 nights and the new shower & toilet block was super. There was always hot water and never seemed that busy, even though the site was fairly full. The hairdryers were an added bonus. The toilet block near our tent we used just for emergencies and was old fashioned and the washing up facilities basic. The play area could do with an upgrade, my children only used it once. The pitch size was quite generous and we were in the furthest field on the right with hook up. We visited Poole Quay and went on the steam train from Norden to Swanage which I can highly recommend. We were impressed with this site and would probably return if we visited the area again.

We only stayed for a few days but it was great ,all the staff were helpful , and the facilities were good the shop had all the things you need from a site shop and more. The toilet block was clean and kept that way throughout the day, the play area was near to us so it was great. The shops were in easy reach ,ie Asda, Tesco, etc and the pubs were close by to go out for a meal and all child friendly. The beaches were close by about 6 miles, loads to do in the area for families, also a delivery service for take out meals in the area, chinese, indian and pizza. We can not wait to go back, thanks for a great time.

We stayed for 7 nights and absolutely loved it! The Park is lovely. It has a fantastic new shower/toilet block, washing up facilities great. All very new and clean. Only downfall being if you camp near the toilet block then you are awoken at night by the sound of the freshly laid gravel as people shuffle to the toilet. Every one is very helpful. Very nice play park for the kids to play in. There is a nice playroom with a pool table. We had a really nice meal at the Bakers Arms along the road and the Gurkha Oriental Buffet in Poole, and they were very welcoming to our 3 young children. It is the first time we have been to Dorset, and we were very impressed. Studland Bay is about a 30 minute drive but it is a stunning beach, in fact we spent most days there. Will definitely return next year.

A very pleasant stay here for last two weeks of May this year, having heard that the site had been re-vamped by the new owners. Nice pitch sizes with good facilities and an excellent clean new shower and toilet block. Very friendly and helpful staff. An ideal location, not just for Poole but also for visiting lots of Dorset's local beauty spots. Very good food and friendly atmosphere at the nearby Bakers Arms and also recommend the local chip shop. So, very impressed all round and will visit again.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this site, despite the awful weather. It rained 75% of the time we were there and we watched a few campers give up, but we stuck it out for our full 10 days. We had stayed here a few years ago but how things have changed! The new shower/toilet block is absolutely spotless, the best we have seen. The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced and staff very friendly and helpful. Pitch sizes are very large and you don't feel 'squeezed' together like some sites. The site is very well situated for local attractions, we spent a couple of days at Tower Park to get out of the rain, only 15 mins away. Very central for Swanage, Sandbanks, Longleat etc. Also there are a couple of real nice pubs within a 15 min walk, and both do very good food. The only negative is the older toilet block which we really only used in 'emergencies', very spartan, but we're sure they'll be re-vamped soon. On the whole excellent and we'll definitely be going back next year

We visited this site in July 2007 to inspect its facilities whilst staying at Beacon Hill caravan and camping site not far from this one and wished we had been staying at this one instead. We were very impressed by the recently built toilet, shower and bathroom blocks which were spotlessly clean and well appointed. The first ever I have seen with a vase of flowers in the MENS! loo's. On a campsite. The staff were pleasent and helpful at reception and although the site is not large compared to some the overall impression was of a site well managed with good level well laid out pitches for touring caravans. We have booked to stay there during this August 2007 bank holiday. It just goes to show that a site does not have to be large with loads of amenities to be good. A clean well laid out and managed site such as this one gets my vote any time.

We camped at South Lytchett Manor from 2nd to 8th July 2007, and this was our first whole week away in the tent. When we arrived we were very impressed by the imposing entrance. Checking in was very straightforward and we were given a map of the entire site and how we should pitch our tent. The shop/check-in is well stocked with fair prices too, even down to electric hook up units and tv aerial leads so if something had been left at home, it could be obtained in the site shop. The site itself is large and constitutes four areas. The first is the field on the left of the entrance, the second is the field on the right of the entrance, the third is the main driveway where most of the touring caravans are sited, the fourth is the field where we were sited and that is at the far end of the site and is called the Manoe Field. This has a gentle slope and caused problems for us as the weather was not good. It had rained a great deal before we arrived and it was very damp underfoot. There is a toilet block and vegetable prep area at this end of the field but this is in great need of refurbishment which I am assured is scheduled for this season. The main toilet block is "out of this world" and I have never seen such good facilities. They are new for the 2007 season and are kept spotlessly clean by the site staff. Also us campers are encouraged to mop out the shower areas when used and I did not see one instance when this did not happen. Pat on the back for us campers there! The area surrounding the site is lovely. It is not far from Poole and is used as a stop off for those who are off to camp in France. Wareham is just down the road and the RSPB protected area in Arne is a must complete with its Red Deer and Wild Rabbits. Wimborne Minster is a lovely little town and the abbey at Stapehill is worth a visit. Bigger attractions include the Tank Museum at Bovington and the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. We stopped for lunch on our way at The Black Horse in Sturminster Marshall which is about 6 miles fro the site and we had excellent hospitality. A lovely week spoiled somewhat by inclement weather but the campsite and the welcome we had by Dave Joanne, Vern and Margaret is enough to brighten anybody's week. Thanks for a lovely week and the site is fantastic.
