From the first minute we arrived to the time of leaving we found the staff here to be very helpful and accommodating. This was our first camping trip and the staff made us feel very welcome. The site offers a perfect base for exploring the beautiful Dorset countryside. The information 'hut' is full to the brim with great ideas for days out, including walks, cycle rides and lots of activities. The facilities are exceptionally clean and the showers are great with plenty of hot water, although they do get quite busy, with the need to queue at certain times (mainly 8ish in the morning). We had a lovely pitch at the bottom of Meadow field next to a little brook. It was nice and flat and quite sheltered. Most of the tents seemed to have good space between them. The campsite and surrounding areas are very dog friendly, including pub within walking distance (St Peter's Finger) where you can sit inside with your dog, same goes for the little cafe accross from the site which serves a very nice, reasonably priced breakfast.
The only couple of downsides are that the field was quite near to the road and you do get very audible traffic noise from the bypass. Also the dog walks on the site did not live up to expectation as they are very short, fine for a quick 5-10mins but don't expect to be able to stretch your dogs legs properly! For this I recommend Wareham Forest, which is lovely.

Really nice campsite. Well looked after - clean, hot showers. Safe - we have 2 small children and it was lovely seeing them having room to play without being close to fast traffic.
Tent pitching was well regulated to ensure no-one encroached on any one elses' space. The grounds were well kept; every time someone left, we saw the grass being mown!
Good dishwashing facilities, waste/refuse areas all well kept.
Overall we thought this was a smashing site in a great location. (shame it didn't have a pool!)

We spent 2 weeks on this site this time round, we had a week in July last year and soon realised a week was not enough, within 2 days home we re booked for this year(2011).
2 weeks is still not enough time to take in what this part of Dorset has to offer, Poole is fantastic along with Sandbanks. We visited Weymouth on a really hot day so a day on the beach was perfect.
Swanage is a quintessential English seaside town but the cost of parking is ridiculous - £9 for the day.
Anyway back to the site and facilities which must have the best organised wardens I have ever encountered, nothing is too much trouble.
The site has expanded the super pitches which are expensive but well worth the cost.
A relaxed atmosphere permeates the site with most people respecting the site rules, our 6 year old daughter was given freedom of the site all albeit carrying a walky talky for peace of mind.
Would thoroughly recommend this site as at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

I echo the sentiments of previous reviewers, this is a great site. We stayed 5 nights in the Lodge Field, a very short distance from the amenity block and with the playground close by. Facilities were very clean and to a good standard, with the family rooms being extremely useful. Potties, baby baths, jugs etc all provided. The Lodge field (tents only, EHU) was level with outer hedging for protection. The inner section backed directly onto the play area and I would imagine this would have been extremely noisy. Fortunately we were tucked in a corner but happy to let our eldest go off and play. There is a playing field on the left as you drive in that is brilliant for ball games or frisbee and the hens provide interesting distraction for the little ones too. The rest of the site has one single road running through it. Motorhomes and Caravans were sited either side of here - which means vehicles are always driving past. There is a larger amenity block further up to suit the camping field and caravans. The shop is fairly well stocked and staff are friendly. There is some road noise, particularly from scooters / motorbikes in the evening but it didn't really spoil our enjoyment. Pitches were of a reasonable size (though we were parked in front of our tent with little sitting out space but that's because we were in a corner), we had a regular size pitch and were up to the max size wise. They do offer larger pitches at a cost. It was an expensive site but worth it in my opinion. Kids loved it. We loved it. Visited Sandbanks beach a couple of times - absolutely stunning. Also recommend Corfe Castle (Parents with buggies - it is quite suitable and the walk from the visitor centre will make you wish you had taken it if you plump to leave it in the car like we did!). Also visited Studland (Knoll Beach £8 to park) and a trip across the chain ferry. Poole has everything you could need and there were some decent shops in Wareham too. Brilliant place. Highly recommend.

We arrived here an a very windy day, which made it very difficult to put tents up. There was a large group of us, which was not welcomed by owners, and we were told that there was absolutely no noise after 10. 30pm and that we would not be able to sit together, Felt like we were back at school! We were of course on our best behaviour and enjoyed the space that was reluctantly provided. There are some great beaches for dog walks, and a visit to Sandbanks is a must!
This site was expensive. It was exposed so the windy nights were horrendous, we were cold and as a result came home a day early. The shower block was very nice though, clean and plenty of hot water.

This is a very good site, with clean toilets, good grass and large pitches. The play area was OK for children under 10, but as the site filled up it became busy. I never had to wait for a shower even when the site was busy. The best thing was the staff who really made every effort to ensure you had a good stay. There is a good information room by the entrance. Worst thing (from our perspective) was the piped music in the toilets. We found the price a little high, but there are offers for early booking etc.

We had a wonderful stay here for 3 nights at the beginning of July. The weather was glorious, which helped, but the site is one of the best we have ever stayed at. We had to move pitch after the first night (which we knew when we booked) but that was okay, and meant we got to experience a couple of areas of the site.
The whole site is immaculate, facilities are spotless and regularly cleaned, and although it's quite a large site, the way it's divided into areas makes it seem smaller. Throughout our few nights here, all was quiet and peaceful.
Very well stocked shop, extremely friendly and helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere across the whole site. Two features which we found especially good: 1) there's a good pub a 10 minute walk from the site (The St Peter's Finger) that serves good food - a voucher from the site entitles you to a free bottle of wine or 2 pints of beer every time you have a meal for two: 2) directly outside the site entrance you can catch a regular bus service to Poole, or Wareham or other destinations. For us this meant that once we had pitched our campervan we didn't have to move it again until we were ready to leave.
Lots to explore in the area - good places to eat in Poole and wonderful boat trips to Brownsea Island and Wareham. Highly, highly recommended!

This is a brilliant site for families. We went for a week with our 3 year old and my 16 month old niece. Our pitches were right next to the playground which was wonderful for our 3 year old as she was allowed her first taste of freedom and made lots of new friends. The shower blocks are top notch and even have music playing! There are two family rooms also which makes life easier when getting the little ones showered.
The on site shop is great and stocks most things, if not there is a corner shop about 15mins walk down the road.
The local pub St Peters Finger is a lovely place to eat even with the children. They even had coupons where you got a free bottle of wine with every two meals ordered.
We had a wonderful week visiting three beaches, Weymouth, Swanage and Bridport and there is lots to do in close vicinity of this site.
Our only moan would be that there was not a baby swing in the park!
So all in all a highly recommended family site.

WOW! All campsites should be like this!
OK, it's not cheap but it's fantastic and you certainly get what you pay for!
We had a hardstanding pitch with EHU, water, waste and TV hook-up in the Randalls and it was perfect.
Quick, easy and very friendly check in. Papers ordered in advance - pay on collection. Shop stocked up nicely. 2 toilet/shower blocks - we used the one nearest reception. It also had 2 family rooms (toilet/shower/sink). Everything was spotlessly clean. Used the Meadow dog walk a few times - plenty of space for sniffing and weeing!
The site give out vouchers to use at the local pub (St Peters Finger) - buy 2 main meals and get a free bottle of wine or 2 pints of local real ale - bargain. 10/15 min stroll to the pub and very doggie friendly (inside and out). Lovely, friendly staff, really good food and certainly NOT over priced. Best meal we had all week by far!
There's a bus stop right outside the site to Poole. We had planned on using it but unfortunately our dog wasn't well on the Friday so we headed home a day early.
We would not hesitate in recommending this site to anyone. We are already planning a trip back sometime in 2012!

We have just come home from this site, and wow! It was lovely!
It was friendly upon arrival, we were shown personally where our pitch was, the best position for our tent and was even given some area's of interest to visit.
The shower blocks on our area (we stayed on the Manor Field) were lovely and clean and always really well kept. Although, it would be good if they had a couple more shower units put in as it did get quite busy at times.
We found the site situation to be pretty central for everywhere we wanted to go, the longest drive took us about 50 mins (that was to Abbotsbury SubTropical Gardens)and Bournmouth and Weymouth were only really 20 mins away.
We went down to view the fireworks along the Poole Quay for their Summer Festival and the atmosphere was excellent down there! Got back at about 11pm and the campsite was alive with everyone else returning! Nicely lit up, and always welcoming feeling.
The information hut they have at their gate was a godsend! Its rammed full of info for anywhere and everywhere you could ever want to visit whilst there! Fantastic!
The on site shop was good for any little emergency item or fresh veg/salad items. Although, for us it would've been good if it opened a little earlier (9am is alright but not if you want an early start somewhere and have ran out of milk etc!)
We visited the Courtyard across the field and found it lovely. Some lovely little quaint shops with friendly people and a lovely cafe to have some food and drinks from. Also a Fish Pedicure place which I tried and would definitely recommend! My feet were beautifully soft!
Only bad bit was maybe they should introduce a time limit or volume control for people with televisions, as our neighbouring tent had theirs on reasonably loud and quite late to(2am the latest!)
Would definitely return to this campsite if we ventured down that area again.
A fabulously enjoyable holiday! Thank you very much!
