We couldn`t get a booking at our usual site on the Isle of Wight this year so we thought we would give this one a try.
Its quite a large site mainly in the shape of a crescent, which backs on to a school sports area at the far end, which is noisy most evenings in the week until about 10pm and during the day.
The facilities are quite good but we did find the showers a little on the small size and the block at the very far end, our nearest, only had one loo cubicle in the mens, very frustrating if the occupier is reading his newspaper.
Washing up water was none too hot either, in the main block, which had better facilities.
Its a very regimented site, as I note a previous reviewer mentioned and unless you are In a motorhome/caravan the pitches are somewhat shallow due to the narrow road, which has no passing places, so beware of pitching too close to it, but as does seem the case with a lot of sites nowadays, more geared towards motorhomes/caravans.
Whilst on the subject of the road, it has some very fierce speed bumps at the very narrow entrance and again before and after the electric barrier, these are unduly fierce and scraped the underside of my Peugeot 206 regularly during our 10 day stay and I noticed others having difficulty with them also evident by the scrapes on the bumps. When I mentioned that they could be calmer I was told it was to slow the kids with thier bikes, but thier weren`t any and in any case they had a gap between them.
Parking for new arrivals is confusing and cramped, with the reception building on the opposite side of the narrow road, so with a caravan rig parked up, you have to leave enough room for other site users to get past and then after checking in line yourself up to negotiate the barrier and speed bump, God help you!
This is a reasonable site, a bit over priced, but ideal for motorhome/caravanners as it has lots of hardstanding pitches.
We won`t return here and hope to go back to our regular site on IOW next year.

My family and I (3 children, 2 adults) stayed at this site over the Easter Weekend and what a fabulous weekend we had!
We were met on arrival and showed to our 'pitch'. We were shown where we could find water, toilets, laundry facilities and also given a full and detailed account of what there was on site and nearby, including money off vouchers for the local pub, just a short walk away.
It is the personal touch that was outstanding!
The site is well managed and all of the facilities were immaculate at all times we used them. The shower block appeared newly refurbished (with music being played in them!) and the family cubicles were a real bonus. There was ample room in the shower cubicles to shower and dress!
The field we were in (I forget the name but its opposite the entrance to the 'pond' walk) was brilliant. 2 of our 3 children are small and they had plenty of room to play outside.
The whole site has a family friendly feel and we found it a very social and friendly site. When the children were in bed, the parents were sat out front with a beer/wine or cuppa!
The children's park and games room were well equipped and although near the entrance, this is gated with a security code needed to gain entry.
We had a car (who wouldn't went camping?!) and found the drive to Poole not to bad. Poole itself is hugely over priced and the parking charges are outrageous!
We did enjoy a ferry trip to Brownsea Island which was very enjoyable and informative but would recommend 'shopping' around for this as we found one that was cheaper than the rest!
Overall, a very good site in a good location.

Lovely site been here once before.
Beware the `frequent` bus service into Poole. They are actually once per hour. Still if you know you can plan accordingly.
Women's showers very nice and clean, but couple of niggly bits.
The water spurts out rather than a shower and why can't these installers make floors that slope slightly to drain water away.
The floor gets soaked when you have a shower so you stand on a sopping wet floor to dry yourself.
Other than that I cannot fault it, pretty site.

What a great site. The toilets and all facilities are A1. We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed every minute. Quiet after dark, close to all major attractions and only 3 miles from Poole Quay.
Our pitch (number 3) had water and electricity right next to the van, the shop was a walk of about 30 seconds and stocked most things you would need. The resident wardens were very friendly and obviously took pride in their job.
The local village is no more than a 5 minute walk and offers 2 great pubs, both of whom, serve food and very good beer. The site gave us a voucher for 4 local pubs at which you could have a free bottle of wine or 2 pints of beer for free when ordering food.
Keep it up, we'll be back soon.

This is the best site we have ever been to. From arrival to departure the staff couldn't have been nicer.
On arrival we were greeted and shown to our pitch (in the area next to the shop) and advised where to pitch and which way the sun would rise and set.
The facilities were second to none and were kept spotlessly clean throughout our week stay. The hair dryers provided are excellent.
The shop is very well stocked with essentials and very reasonably priced. The fresh eggs, from the on-site chickens, are wonderful.
The information room is packed full of leaflets, maps and menus. There is a microwave in the information room which was very handy.
The nearest shopping centre is Poole and they have a large Tesco and Asda. Lots of 'out door' shops too if you need camping supplies.
This is an ideal location to explore the area. We popped over to the Isle of Wight whist there. (£35. 00 day return, with car, from Lymington. )
Although this is a large site, it doesn't feel like it. As it is split into different areas and you feel like you own your own bit of the countryside.
There have been more picnic benches placed around the site and you can use them as your own.
One small negative. We only booked for one week and wish we had booked for two.

We arrived at site to a very friendly welcome
Reception was in the well stocked shop selling all essentials fresh rolls and eggs etc
Our pitch was hardstanding and even had a TV point
Washing up room was very well laid out and organised
Showers were superb and I personally loved the music that played in the toilet blocks
On arrival voucher was given which gave a free bottle of wine when two people dinned at local pub which I took advantage of meals were nice but a bit on the small side for price
Site was very big and nice to walk around and also there was a short walk across the field where we found a selection of little shops and a restaurant selling potteries, beads jewellery making accessories, garden items, toys etc it was in a small courtyard and very quaint
We walked across bridge and caught a bus to poole as more buses pass that area think it was £5 for a family to travel to poole and back.

Overall a very good site toilets and showers very clean, pitches nice and large water points close to our pitch. Wifi was good where we were pitched.
Shop on site handy, newspapers can be ordered for collection in the morning. Curfew at night was adhered to wardens patrol to check.
Very reasonable site fees. One very good thing is this site has full recycling facilities. Would return to same site

This is our second visit following a 4 night stay in 2010. As we found last year the site is excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly. The toilet and shower blocks are always clean and are in excellent condition. I think we were on a standard pitch which was generous in size. The general ambiance of the site with the areas for the tents having a nice family feel to it. On site shop had all the basics and free range eggs.
We had an excellent short break and would recommend it to anyone wishing to explore this part of the UK. A great site in a fabulous setting. With the Jurrasic coast at your doorstep what more could you want.

We have just returned from a superb 5 night stay at this site. Good location just 5 miles from Poole and with a bus stop outside the gate.
The toilet and showers were immaculate, the grounds very well kept and the staff were extremely friendly (you can even order your daily paper for collection from the on site shop which was very well stocked with all the essentials required)
There is a cafe across the field in the local craft centre which does very good breakfasts (the craft centre also has a bead shop to which I lost my wife for a fair few hours !)
You can hear traffic on the dual carriageway which is just over a field away, but its not obtrusive.
Overall I would class class this place as a Caravan Club site standard, without the attitude. Excellent will return !

It was with great excitement that we headed out for our first camping trip of the year. The sun was shining and the forecast looked good, for a few days at least.
The welcome was very friendly and the small shop was able to provide all that we needed for lunch. Our flat, grassy pitch - located in the camping area immediately behind the shop - was a very good size.
There was water and electricity nearby and, when the owner arrived to make sure that all was well, he thoughtfully offered me the loan of an extension cable (which we needed as our cable wasn't quite long enough to reach the tent).
Having pitched the tent and had lunch, we set out to explore the site. Unsurprisingly, the majority of units were caravans and motor homes and the site provides a very good number of level hard-standing pitches, nicely separated by strips of grass.
There is a small, fenced pond that provides a dog walking area although they have to be kept on a short lead (as they do in the two fields that we could also access). I did find an area in which we could exercise our dog off the lead but it wasn't very inviting, being very overgrown and used as a bit of dumping area for trees and bushes that had been cleared; however, the dog liked it!
The site has a well kept, fenced play area that was very popular with younger children. There is also a very small games room with a TV and a freezer (for ice blocks only). There is a large fenced enclosure with a great assortment of chickens. Children can buy bags of food to feed them and eggs are sold in the site shop.
There is good (T-Mobile) mobile phone reception and a public telephone box near the entrance. I didn't try out the wi-fi as it was only available in the reception and information areas. The latter is well equipped with a huge amount of local information (leaflets etc) and also houses a microwave oven for campers to use.
The wash rooms/toilets were absolutely immaculate; there was plenty of toilet paper, soap, a hand dryer and hair-dryers. There were also fresh flowers and piped music(!). The showers were a good size and there was loads of hot water.
Two separate family bathrooms were a great idea for families with small children and also equipped for disabled access. The dish washing area was a little on the small side but very well equipped with bowls and draining boards and very clean. It also housed a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The site is not far from Upton village with a good range of local shops including a well stocked co-op that sells in-store baked bread and very good croissants. There is a also fish and chip shop (we didn't try it). There is a pub along the road from the site and a cafe a short walk behind the site; again, we didn't try either of these so can't recommend them (or otherwise).
During our short stay we visited Kimmeridge Bay (superb tea room/cafe), Poole Quay (good fish and chips), the Blue Pool at Wareham (a lovely woodland walk and another nice tea room) and Splashdown Water Park (kids loved it). There is absolutely loads to do in this area and some fantastic beaches when the weather is good.
My only gripe with the site was its proximity to the main road. During our stay the road noise was quite obtrusive at night. As I live near a main road, I know that the noise levels can be affected by wind direction and atmospheric conditions and we were maybe unfortunate.
We were also sited right at the front of the site. I didn't walk right to the other end of the site (and it does stretch some way back from the road) so am not sure whether there were other camping pitches at the far end.
If you have a tent, and are bothered about road noise, you might like to enquire about this when booking and try to get a pitch as close the back as possible.
