Yet again another fantastic holiday at this fabulous site. This was the 6th time of going and nothing changes, everything and everywhere spotless and tidy. This time we caught the bus outside the site and went to swanage, corfe castle etc which was fun, you could hop on and off all day.
Even though it was the first week of the school holidays it didn't seem busy even though there was a lot of vans and tents. The only criticism I have is I wish parents would stop their kids from running through only peoples pitches, but that is not South Lychtetts problem.
This is the only place which my family insist we come to each year, which speaks for itself! (me, husband, son 16 and daughter 13).
Love it, love it, love it.

May have only stayed for one night but was really impressed. Contacted them on the phone and spoke to a really friendly woman, who was very helpful. We arrived to be greeted by again friendly helpful staff. It was clean, quiet and an enjoyable stay. Excellent value for money. Met a few of the staff working around the site and all very helpful. Will definitely be going again and investigating the site and area more Thank You.

We made a return trip to this wonderful site and despite the terrible weather we were not disappointed.
We arrived the day after a torrential downpour which had resulted in the pond breaking its banks. This was causing the staff some problems as they were fully booked and some of the pitches were unusable. However we were found a new pitch within twenty minutes of our arrival.
As we had visited before we new that the facilities were good and they were, in fact we were able to receive the wi-fi signal in our tent, bonus.
Had to visit the pub (St. Peters Finger) just to check it out. Still serving good food & beer and the staff are excellent.
Will be back next year

This is our second visit to South Lytchett Manor. We went for a week last September but a week isn't enough time to visit and see all the amazing places in Dorset.
The site is situated perfectly, approximately 3. 5 miles north of Poole just off the A35, which gives you great accessibility to all surrounding towns and villages ie Poole, Bournemouth, Wimbourne, Swanage, Wareham, Corfe Castle, Luthworth Cove, Durdles Door to name a few.
There are convenient Bus stops Just outside the site to take you to all these places and more. The staff here are fantastic, nothing is to much trouble and they work tirelessly to keep the site in pristine condition.
Fantastic washing up and shower facilities. TV hook up available, cables can be purchased at reception which also stocks a good range of essentials i. E Bread milk, sweets, cake, vegetables etc and also free range eggs from their own chickens, very tasty.
If your going to Dorset to Camp this is one of the first places you should consider.
I think most of the other reviews tell a similar story.

We stayed here for 2 nights in early July. This was our 2nd visit to South Lytchett Manor.
The grand entrance lets you know how great the site is going to be!
Really friendly booking in. Great little shop, always fully stocked. Daily newspapers can be ordered (and paid for on collection next morning). The staff go above and beyond, always cheerful and helpful (every campsite should be like this!). We had asked for a hardstanding near to the dog walk (as we have an older dog) and they put us right next to the meadow field (which he loved). There were bins close by including recycling but we never found a water point close by
There are 3 toilet/shower blocks on site. We were closest to the middle one. Spotless would be an understatement! Piped music while you showered too - nice touch!
Free Wi-Fi to all pitches now - bonus!
There's a new section fenced off where dogs can run free - it also takes you to the local pub - but it was extremely muddy (not surprisingly for this summer!). The pub, St Peters Finger is excellent. Food isn't cheap but it's good and the site give you a voucher. It has changed from the last offer, now if you order two main meals you can have either 2 bottles of beer or cider or a bottle of wine to take away.
We have never been to a site where the staff work so hard to keep the site so pristine. Keep up the great work South Lytchett Manor and we'll certainly be back!

Stayed here early July for 3 nights and had it not been for torrential rain, would have liked to have extended our stay.
We were guided to our pitch and was told which way we had to park and which way we had to have our awning, which wasn't a problem.
We booked a supersize pitch and fortunately, this was located next to the electric point and tap and we also had a picnic table - not that the weather permitted.
The site was immaculate and has rules and regs to keep it this way - so take note regarding your type of groundsheet!
Shower block was pristine - even had music playing.
Washing up and other areas were so clean.
Shop was well stocked, although we didn't use it.
Local pub - St Peter's Finger was a short walk away and you could take a short cut via the field path but take a torch for the way back - and be careful of where the dog walkers have been!
Overall, this site was really really good and I would like to revisit. People were friendly and it was quiet without lacking atmosphere.
9/10 from me.

Having read the reviews for this site we decided to book for two nights with the plan to stay 3 or 4 and then to move on. We have today just returned after 7 nights and four different pitches. Not because they moved us but because we stayed for extra nights and the pitch we were on was booked. This is our first real time camping for more than two nights and we normally managed without electric so this was an eye opener as we had running water, elec, tv, wifi, drain, picnic bench and a bin! Fantastic. No going back to no electric etc. As it was home from home. The weather was pretty bad with rain for four days out of seven but the site was kept immaculate. The staff and site are fantastic. We would have stayed another night if it wasn't raining!
Highly recommended site.
With regard to the location there are two pubs nearby, both are ok with St Peters Finger being preferred to the other. We decided to get the bus into Poole and this is caught outside the campsite with a return ticket for less that £4. 00. You can get a day saver ticket for the same money and catch buses to Bournemouth and Wimborne for no extra cost.
We had dinner at The Guildhall Tavern in Poole which was highly recommended. We also got fresh lobster and prawns from the fish manger near the green bridge into Poole. Fantastic.
We are already planning our next trip. Poole and surrounding areas are great.

We returned from South Lytchett Manor a couple of days ago. The site is lovely, the facilities are second to none, the staff magnificent but unfortunately the weather wasn't happy! We were sited in the Manor field which is lovely but we didn't book a hard standing because generally we prefer to be on grass, however we didn't think about the weather. The first week, we had a lot of rain during the nights and the ground became a little soggy under our awning carpet. My husband went to speak to the staff to ask if it was OK if we put some thick plastic sheeting under the carpet. We were told by the staff that we could put plastic down but that they would move us on to another pitch if we wanted. This was arranged for the following morning. 2 young men came to our caravan, helped us to take the awning down, towed our caravan to another pitch and helped to put the awning back up and also helped to carry our 'stuff' from our previous pitch. All done within 30 minutes. They were fantastic, really helpful, cheerful guys, nothing was too much trouble.
Every pub we went to for meals out accepted dogs and the dog field on the sight is second to none, it's massive so even our Westie, Charlie had a great time. Would definitely use this site again, best one we have visited. Well done and Thankyou.

Just returned from this site earlier than planned (14 days) due to the very adverse weather conditions, in the 10 days we were there we had 1 fine day. But this didn't stop the site wardens from being cheerful and friendly. A lovely site which is well cared for by the staff and is a credit to them. The showers and toilets are the only ones we have visited where there are fresh flowers and have actually a mop and bucket with disinfectant in to mop the shower after using it a very welcome touch. It was a pity that the tent campers from out of the field didn't show respect for others and use the brush or mop provided to clean the grass up they had tramped in after using the showers/ toilets, sink tops swimming in water and running onto the floor, the dressing areas were covered all the time with grass, once they had gone home after the weekend it was back to normal- clean once more. The poor cleaners certainly had there were cut out. We visited the nearest pub St Peters Finger we thought the food to be very over priced and poor in portion size, and we could see why the free drinks voucher was used to tempt customers, we had to ask 4 times for the bottle of wine which we finally got after we had eaten - very poor customer service. We prefered the Bakers Arms which for another 200 mtrs walk was far better for food/ price and hospitality. The Coutrtyard which is accessed via the paddock is certainly worth visiting for the little craft units and also for Dylans restaurant beautiful food, excellent sunday lunch - 3 courses - £12. 95 scummy ! This said we plan to return to South Lytchett Manor and would recommend this site to anyone wanting to visit Dorset.

Arrived on site in thunderstorm, helpful reception who showed us to our pitch close to the toilets which were spotless. BUT our pitch had been so well used that it was mud, stinky smelly mud, with some grass on the other half, BUT you must put your tent on the mud, lovely, so our lovely cared for 10 year old vango tent had to be put up on mud. After an hour and a bit of help from the staff the tent was washed and we continued. But when we went out we came back to a smelly tent apart from one night when we came back to a stream running through it! We packed the tent away in another thunder storm and left. I think the people that own the site are not really interested in tent, and do not care if the grass dies and is not suitable for a tent. I took the tent home and cleaned in several times. I write this now April 2013 because I have just got the tent out and it smells of a sewer. So I have had to bin my £400.00 vango tent. Stay at south lychett in a tent but don't have electric hookup because that area is where the constant use of caravans kills the grass and the site owners really don't care !
