This campsite is probably the best site we have ever stayed at, we were there for one week. The toilets and showers are in excellent condition, the people running and maintaining the site are very friendly and always willing to offer advice on the local areas.
The grass is well maintained and the pitches are level and easy to peg down the tent. Pitches are good size, we had a superior pitch with EHU, measuring approx 10msq.
The no noise after 11pm rule was adhered to and everyone on the site respected each other and that made a huge difference.
The local pub approx 10 minute walk from the site, is a gastro type serving excellent food and has a great selection of wines and beers.
The bus stop is right outside the site gates and you can get a bus to Poole, Swanage and Weymouth.
I recommend this site to anyone planning to visit Dorset, a really great base to explore the local area and beyond. Cannot praise this site enough and looking forward to going back there in 2013.

We spent 10 nights at this site. We were in the Manor Field, backing on to the school. We had a lovely clean toilet block which although small, was kept immaculate.
Our pitch was very big, but we lost the sun by about 2pm ish, so if I stayed here again I would take this into consideration.
The staff were very helpful and the shop was adequate for our needs.
My only disappointment was the facilities for dogs. They had advertised an area where you could let dogs off the lead, but this was overgrown, muddy and full of old picnic benches. The other area around the pond was pleasant enough but dogs had to be on a lead.
The pub down the road St Peter's Finger, was very nice, food was lovely and you got a voucher for a free bottle of wine when you order 2 main meals. It was a 10 minute walk.
We also visited Bournemouth, Wimbourne, Wareham, Poole (masses of motorbikes on a Tuesday night), really good! Also had a trip to Durdle Door, which is very pebbly and a steep walk back up to the car!
All in all an enjoyable stay!

Have to agree with the comments about the site, wardens and facilities, they were generally first class.
However, although we were lucky enough to have 7 days of great weather but could only sit in the sun from 10am to 2pm as our pitch was shaded by large trees for most of the day.
This was a disappointment as we like to sit out in the evening sun.
Pitches are allocated when you book and this isn't mentioned.
Some pitches ( approx half the site) are in sun all day long so if it's important you could maybe request a sunny pitch when you book.

We’ve just returned after a 10-day stay and will certainly be returning. Every year we meet up with other family members on a campsite and among us we have young children, older children, parents, grandparents and dogs – and we have found that it isn’t easy to please everyone but this site really delighted us all.
The staff were charming, always pleasant and helpful and obviously cared that everyone enjoyed their stay. The site is very well maintained and the facilities were always immaculate.
There are two (free) hairdryers in the main block (there are three separate blocks). Since I only used the main block for showers I’m not sure whether there are other hairdryers.
The showers, wash cubicles and toilets were all of a very high standard and really pleasant to use. One of the nice things about this site is that each kind of camping is catered for without seeming to make the site overcrowded. I have stayed at sites where it seems like a kind of affluent refugee camp- everyone put into a single area and being hard to find your own tent.
The site is divided into named ‘fields’ – each having its own level of amenities – but even with the basic pitches, water and waste disposal are conveniently placed.
There is free Wi-Fi in the information hut, which is stacked with useful information. The office will photocopy individual guides for walks or cycle rides in the local area. There is also a microwave in the hut for anyone to use. While we were there we met appreciative campers of all kinds. There is an 'off the lead' field for dogs as well as a wood for walks on a lead.
There is a games room and small play park for children – my only criticism of this park is that the children’s park is far too small and has limited number of playthings – there are a lot of families who use the site and squabbles over swings are not conducive to a relaxing time.
My suggestion would be to install a kind of adventure area for older children in the playing field which is used for ball games (this is another real asset – our grandchildren loved playing football and rounders with their cousins) It is also sited away from the pitches so that the noise of the players aren’t going to be a nuisance to everyone else.
The other things that made our stay particularly enjoyable were the craft centre and café, a very short walk away across a field. The café is licensed and very pleasant and there are several different kinds of small enterprises who have set up here. You can even have a fish pedicure!
There is a bus stop immediately outside the gates. We were happy not to have to use the car much during our stay. The bus goes to to Poole, Wareham, Corfe, and Swanage – and it’s easy to get to Bournemouth and Studland too.

Just arrived back from a 7 night stay at south lytchett manor campsite. Overall this site was very nice, very friendly welcome on arrival, very helpful staff and very good facilities. Toilets and showers were always spotless and clean and the two free hairdryers in the ladies were a bonus too. There was also two family shower rooms.
We were pitched in the main camping field, next to the play area which our 4 and 7 year old loved. The shop was a stones throw away and was always well stocked. There was also a great little information hut with endless info leaflets for ideas for days out in the area, we visited splashdown water park, the tank museum and paultons park during ou stay.
This campsite was a great base for exploring dorset and its beautiful beaches.
We visited the local pub st peters fingers during our stay, delcious food and friendly atmosphere, but you might be wise to book in peak season.
The main camping field was a little over crowded and you could hear traffic noise from the main road running along side this site(this didn't bother us too much though. My only other complaint with this site was we had to pitch our tent over a mud pitch (the grass had died off where previous tents had been and not been given chance to grow back, most of the pitches appeared to look like this). This meant that the ground in the awning was mud as well.
Overall we had a great stay.

I cannot praise South Lytchett enough. I agree with everything that has been written before.
The site is spotlessly clean. The staff are so helpful and friendly.
We were given an upgrade on our pitch and now we will make sure to request the same area. The pitches were a terrific size.
We used the bus service each day as it was cheaper than having to pay for parking.
The showers were always immaculate and plenty of hot water.
We have already booked our next visit for August.
Would definitely recommend this site to anyone.

Fab site - it was our first real camping experience (we had been before with family but to a field with no facilities) and it has only made us want more! Team working there were friendly and the man who shows you to your pitch must clock up miles on his bike but still remains happy and helpful! Toilets and showers and washing up facilities were immaculate and modern - especially like the music! We were in the Minster Field with EHU and it was a lovely size pitch. The site was quite full as it was a warm weekend. It was very quiet after 11pm apart from a family who arrived late and were blowing up airbeds but that soon stopped and it was silent. Great shop with all the essentials covered including beer and penny sweets! The location is also perfect 10 minutes to the Swanage Railway, 5 minutes for Farmer Palmer and 10 minutes into Poole. The one and only drawback was the children's play park - it was a bit small for the size of the park with only 2 swings a slide and climbing frame, but there is a field with goals for football and we went to Poole Park 10 minutes or so away with an abundance of slides, swings etc.

What a friendly welcome! On arriving we were shown to our pitch and advised the best place to pitch our tent and where all the amenities were.
The shower and toilet block was immaculate and the music playing in the background made it a very pleasant atmosphere. The shop on the site more than catered for our needs and also ordered newspapers if required
The two pubs in the village both served great food and one even offered a free bottle of wine if you ordered two main courses. This was all explained by the pleasant staff at reception who explained where the free wine vouchers were obtained.
All in all this site was the making of a great holiday and I will not hesitate to camp there again in the future.

Wow! What a site! We booked this site with a number of friends and, although the site did advise us that they don't generally take group bookings, they did site us in two separate groups within a short distance of each other.
Clean, well kept grounds and toilet blocks. Cubicles a little on the cramped side in the smaller block, and the shower heads need some attention, but they do suffer from very hard water so it's always going to be difficult to keep them running completely freely.
There is a list of rules provided with the information sheet, which on first glance seems excessive, but it's actually all down to common sense and respect for your neighbours, so no complaints there.
The staff were always only too pleased to help with whatever we asked for; the shop is fairly restricted in its supplies, but there is sufficient to provide any essentials required!
You can pay an extra £3 per night for fully serviced pitch with a picnic bench, which seems good value. All pitches very roomy and well laid out. Cracking.
Two pubs/restaurants are within easy reach; St Peter's Finger is an easy walk away, and has a cracking menu with very good staff. Thoroughly recommended.
The Bakers Arms is past St Peter's, and to be honest if we hadn't been to the other pub first I would have given it a better recommendation. Sadly, on the Friday we were there they needed more staff, and the menu wasn't as good as the other. All the same, a nice place to drink and eat, but not as nice as St Peter's Finger!
Places to visit locally include Lulworth Cove (very nice), Durdle Door (park at the dedicated site, don't try to walk from Lulworth), Monkey World, and the Tank Museum. Overall this is a cracking part of the world, and this site is very highly recommended.

OK - but very regimental pitches and super pitches not very good sun goes by 4pm mid summer and all traffic goes by pitch in both directions so noisy - very very noisy campers and A35 bypass all night long. Toilets clean if only limited in number for the sites size. TV reception is poor and WiFi despite new antennas being erected in recent months prior to our visit is poor to non existent in good weather.
Gates seemed to be shut at 11pm but not locked which is strange? anyone can let themselves in? So why shut them? N. B. There was also a coded barrier inside of these gates which was 24/7 operation.
Good location for Poole and East Dorset although roads adjacent do get very very busy.
A lot of noise from the adjacent school during the school day so not a peaceful site in the least.
No nearby eateries nearest pub 25 min walk away nicest pub 40 min walk other end of village!
Not sure we would return unless it was our only option! Was not restful.
