Just returned from a glorious weeks camping at South Lychett Manor. An excellent site, very clean amenities and wonderful helpful staff (even lent us a windbreak). Dog friendly site with a large woodland area leading onto playing fields to let the dog run off a bit of steam. Great play park for the younger children and a games room with a small tv for the older ones. Excellent pub 5 mins walk away - great food and service. Fish and chip shop 5 mins in car. Best stocked site shop I have ever seen - you name it they had it. Fresh bread and fantastic meat from the local butcher. There is also a large Tesco Extra approx 10 minutes in car. Maybe a little pricier than some sites but we do always have electric and have a large tent so still good value. Top tip, if the weather is predicted to be good make sure you get to the beaches early as parking can be a bit of a nightmare (Sandbanks about 15 mins away beautiful beach with dog area and shell bay just across from Sandbanks on the chain ferry also a great beach). Bovingdon Tank Museum about 20 mins away is well worth a visit as is Monkey World. If the weather is not too good Tower Park in Poole has an indoor water park, cinema and bowling. Downside - none! Already booking for next year

We've just got back from another fantastic week at South Lytchett Manor and we are already planning our next visit!
We had a warm welcome from Jo, Dave and the Team. They are all so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They have maintained the high standard at the site with clean toilet blocks with plenty of hot water. Even over the busy Bank Holiday we didn't have to wait for a shower.
The site shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. There is plenty of info about the local area in the Games Room. Even dishwashing is a pleasure with music to sing along to!
As usual our boys had a great time in a safe relaxed environment spending plenty of time at the park.
This site is in a great location just a few miles from Poole. There is so much to do and see in Dorset - enough to keep the whole family happy and entertained.
South Lytchett Manor may not be the cheapest site in Dorset but you only get what you pay for. We would highly recommend this site for it's location, excellent facilities and friendly, helpful staff.

Wonderful site in good central position.
Facilities great and always clean and even cleaned after dark. Piped music a bit irritating however.
Flat site making it good for the kids to cycle around. WiFi worked well and shop not overpriced for the location.
Local pub first rate and good value
Dog walking facilities excellent and a very dog friendly site.

Just got back from a 4 night stay at Sth Lytchett and while the site is more or less the same as it was last year, the people who run it seem to go that little bit further for you to make your stay enjoyable, they even have an Indian takeaway menu which will deliver to the site, and excellent food it was too.
There is an offer at the local pub (the 3 fingers) at the moment free bottle of wine or 2 pints free with every 2 main meals, and I mean any bottle of wine, we saved over £40 one night just on the drink.
The showers were always hot and clean no matter what time of day.
One of the party ran out of gas and instead of the normal £15-17 the bottle was £21 as a tad bit pricey.
Overall once again a very pleasurable stay and will most certainly be going back

This is a pleasant site, excellent location, good facilities, but somewhat overpriced compared to similar sites.
We booked last minute for the bank holiday weekend so were pleased to get a pitch. We were located in the manor field at the top end of the park. This was much quieter and much preferred by ourselves as the majority of the touring caravans are set along the central roadway (hard and grass pitches) which meant a constant stream of traffic past you, particularly if you were situated near the entrance.
However, we instead were next to the upper field toilet facilities so had a constant flow of what seemed like foot soldiers! and kids skidding on their bikes right outside our awning - some even ignorant enough to squeeze themselves between our awning and car, rather then walk a few extra feet around! (no fault of the site owners I know but very irritating).
Anyway, the good points - location, setting, toilet facilities - very clean, hot showers. Wash-up areas were good but need more work area space.
Shop - we didn't use but seemed very well stocked. Tourist info area - good. Entrance barrier with key code. Staff were very friendly and helpful, showed us to our pitch and ensured we were sited etc.
Only bad points were although the setting was lovely we really didn't like the general layout of this site. Not really enough to do for the price charged - only small play park, pool table and a goal in the tent field.
Possibly may revisit if we could get pitch in top manor field and away from toilet block! -perhaps fussy campers I know but you need to be happy to enjoy your stay.

Having picked up our first ever touring caravan, we drove straight to South Lytchett Manor to 'try it out'. The area is beautiful and there is lots to do and see - we had a lovely walk round the beach at Sandbanks. The site was clean, well organised, the toilet block was great - lovely, warm, clean, powerful, large showers, all looked brand new. Site was quiet at night, even when full. Pitch size was perfect - our van is nearly 8m, and we had plenty of space. We had a few teething problems with our caravan, but help was always on hand, and we would definitely go back.

Best campsite we have stayed at in our three years of camping! Really friendly staff who showed us to our pitch (100 & 99) and gave us details of what the campsite offered and what was available locally. The pitches were numbered, spacious and well looked after. New hedges have been planted between the various small 'field' areas which will offer more shelter / privacy behind each pitch when fully mature. Nice looking site, lots of trees, and a real countryside feel.
There are several camping areas; a large 'non electric' field for tents,(occupied by a number of male and female rugby players during our visit who were enjoying themselves immensely), three smaller 'electric hook up' fields for tents and several other areas for caravans / camper vans with hard standing as well as grass areas. There is a small children's play area in one of the electric tent fields - near to reception and the toilet / dishwashing areas. Beware if you don't want to be near other people's children all the time as it was well used from very early in the morning! We don't, and fortunately were in the lower electric camping field which was a lot quieter and more relaxed!
The Toilet/Shower/Dishwashing areas were 5* and were constantly monitored for cleanliness by the cheerful owners and staff - from a 7:30am initial 'brush up' to a 1 hour shut down mid- afternoon for a full clean! There are also two family bathrooms complete with potty and baby bath facilities.
The on site shop was reasonably priced and sufficiently stocked if you ran out of anything - and you could order newspapers for the next day.
A bus stop to Poole is directly outside and takes about 15 minutes (although it was pricy £10 one way for 2 adults and 2 teenagers - but then so was Poole & the Sandbanks area in general - it must be a very affluent area!) There are 2 pubs within a ten minute walk - both family friendly and offering very tasty food (booked advised - we couldn't get a table the first night as we just turned up.)
It wasn't cheap as we had to pay for the pitch, plus each occupant, then a supplement for a large pitch and electric hookup - about £38 a night all in BUT you get what you pay for - and I'd rather pay a bit more for a first class well run site - and we are already planning a return visit as we liked it so much.

This is a really pleasant site, but truthfully I'm not sure what all the fuss is about in others people's reviews!
Overall I have no major complaints, friendly staff, cheerful welcome on arrival, sensible layout of site, clean and tidy. But we have been to other sites that would equal these comments and were better value for money for what was on offer.
Our pitch was nicely sheltered and level and not too bumpy at all and they are well spaced. Although the field itself was swarming with midges for the two days we were there! I expected to be eaten alive, but luckily they weren't biting!
As this was a bank holiday weekend that promised reasonably good weather, we were expecting busy, but with only 3 toilets, 3 showers and two sinks for the ladies, they couldn't cope with the demand. The cleanliness standards dropped disappointingly. Although I could see that the toilet/shower block is new and they encourage considerate use of them, ie mopping up after your shower. By the time we left on Monday morning, they were not in a good state after several rallies in the top field obviously used these as their nearest convenience. Expect plenty of queueing at peak times. There are other toilet blocks on site but these were nearest to our pitch.
The playground was not well equipped enough to keep my two girls, age 8 and 12, happy for very long. They preferred to wash the dishes and dry up for us, probably because of the pleasantly warm wash-up facility with piped in music. This kept them out of the tent for longer!
I was pleased to see an opportunity to recycle our waste with the green bins available, and sensibly, one for batteries, obviously used in abundance when camping.
Definitely recommend the pub down the road, St Peter's Finger, not too far and an excellent menu, fairly priced main meals and the Dorset Apple cake was yummy. Worth checking to see if any events are on though, as we had to book a table - it was very busy, but the staff were very accommodating and honest about waiting times.
Admittedly we probably didn't make the most of everything on offer at the site, preferring to explore the area around. Arne is a beautiful RSPB area if that's your thing, and not too far away. We were lucky enough to see Sika deer, several sand lizards, huge ants nests (so be careful where you stand/kneel/sit!), numerous bird species, and we heard a cuckoo and woodpecker.
All in all, we felt safe and comfortable on site, with key code operated barrier and speed restrictions. The noise levels after dark were minimal, probably as most people retired inside to their tents as it was pretty chilly.

Fabulous is how I would describe this site. From my initial phone call at 6.20pm on a Friday evening to leaving on Sunday morning we encountered nothing but helpfulness from every member of staff we had dealings with. We arrived late on the Friday and they told us to knock on their house and they would show us to our pitch and then proceeded to make sure we were okay with pitching in the dark.
The toilets, showers and washing up facilities were spotlessly clean every time I used them, and had fresh flowers and music to boot! The onsite shop was good although didn't sell newspapers unless you had preordered them the night before. The playpark was good and included a sandpit and climbing equipment. Lovely walks for the dog and cows as next door neighbours, great fun for the kids.
The local pub is withing walking distance, does great food and allows dogs in the bar area. Three big plus points from us for that! Poole is ten minutes away if you feel the need for retail therapy.
All in all a great site, helpful staff and great facilities. Would highly recommend.

The caravan park was excellent, and showers and toilets very clean and tidy. Our pitch was a little bumpy but ok. The playground was a little small but functional. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. The local pub St Peters Finger was lovely and the food and drink superb. We travelled to Poole by bus which was 10 mins away at hourly intervals. This is a lovely part of England and caravan park is worth a visit so we would certainly go back.
