Booked in advance for end of August Bank Hol weekend going on the rave reviews on this site.
Good and clean, showers hot and plentiful -w ith NO queuing although the site was full. It didn't feel full all weekend.
Weather was rubbish (typical Band Holiday I guess!) but the cheerful staff made up for it.
The site is really clean and nicely laid out. Deer wandering around in the field behind our tent was really exciting for the children.
In a really central location, Wareham is really pretty and so is Lytchett Monster.

What a fantastic site and holiday from start to finish. The site staff are friendly and welcoming from the minute you pull onto the site to the minute you leave. Facilities are spotless and cannot be faulted. The surrounding area is wonderful so much to see and do and the Bournemouth Air Festival is a must. Be aware that you need to leave early on a morning if you intend to go to local Beaches in particular Sandbanks as there is limited parking facilities however Swanage Beach is a perfect alternative for young families. My daughter of 5 had so much freedom playing with her friends however this was due to us being in the bottom field that had caravans and tents on with electric, if we had been on the main driveway I wouldn't have allowed this due to the passing cars on the site.
Would I go again? Yes.
Do I think its worth the money? Yes if you want a quiet site that is close to all attractions but don't want the hassle of noisy people and want like minded people.

We visited South Lytchett with two tents, no hookup and were pitched at the edge of the field, overlooking a private field which was excellent. The experience with everyone who works at the site has been pleasant from the first phone call to the end, with everyone being really friendly and helpful.
The facilities were clean and interesting, as promised, with piped music and better decoration than most sites. At the height of season, with a fully booked site there are always going to be queues at peak periods for the showers and washing up, so it doesn't make commercial sense to add more, but it would be nice -(:0)
Being close to Poole, a lot is available but because we've been spoiled by Ashurst it seemed more hard work to keep 4 kids amused each day. The play facilities on site aren't up to much.
The shop is excellent and not overpriced. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the cafe or take up the special offer of a free bottle of wine at the local pub.
Overall, a very pleasant visit.

I must admit that the first impression of the site was that it looked scruffier than the web site had made it look!
After settling in however, the place grew on me.
The problem is that there is a lot of road noise as the tent field is next to the main road & also with-in a few hundred metres from the dual-carriageway running under the road bridge. This could be improved if the owners could build a turf mound/wall along the length of the field to dampen the sound.
Unfortunately, there are a few local 'brain dead' lads that occasionally race along the road 'beeping' their car horns late evening, clearly to annoy the campers!
The owners did try putting us next to the road at first, but we negotiated a pitch in the centre of the field which was much better!
Apart from that, the freezer for the 'freezer blocks' was a mess. The owners could do with sorting this out.
Most people used Tesco bags so they all looked the same. Hundreds of 'ice blocks' (mostly unfrozen & rarely did freeze at all!) filled the units.
Several of ours went 'walkabout'!
I found a 'shaving light' didn't work in the block nearest the office the entire time we were there.
The large middle wash block never seemed to have hot water to wash your hands.
Queueing for the toilet, showers or wash rooms & dish-washing sinks was common!
Considering the cost per night for a tent was around £28 in just a field with no EHU & that there was no pool or other main facility, the owners are maximising their profits (which you can't blame them for admittedly!) but there is room for expansion/improvement.
I know this all seems like a major moan from me. But bare with me a moment!
Overall, the site was FANTASTIC!. Well!, Fantastic by Dorset standards.
One of the few sites in the area where you don't have to be a Mountain Goat to pitch your tent!
We had one the best holidays for ages coming here!
The staff are friendly, the Site clean, everyone was relaxed & even the few very large groups were well behaved.
Everyone quietened down by 10 or 11pm.
Wildlife abounds!. Deer in the adjoining field, Buzzards flying around nearly all day, Rabbits along the fild edges & Moles (can't miss the Mole hills!), & large flocks of Jackdaws.
Owls 'hooting' all night long!
Can't stand the road noise,. But can put up with the animals screeching/barking all day & night!
Well stocked shop.
Cafe (which we didn't use) across a field.
Pub 10min walk (didn't use this time around!
There is a good 'chippy' not far from the site. Turn left at the main gate, over the dual-carriageway & it is 3/4 mile on the right.
Chinese take-away!
Good one (albeit looking scruffy from the outside!) along the Hamworthy Road. Again turn left, follow to the top of the road to the 'monkey puzzle' roundabout, turn right (3rd exit) follow the road almost to the lifting bridge at Poole & it is on the left - Lam's, 194 Hamworthy Road, Poole.
Great places to visit are - Studland Beach, Lulworth Cove & the walk over the hill to Durdle Door & Man o' War bays.
The walk from Corfe Castle to Swanage along the top of the hill (4 miles). Getting the bus or Steam Train back to Corfe!
Despite my negative earlier comments. We WOULD go back again!

We have just arrived home from the beautiful South Lytchett where we have spent a very enjoyable 6 nights. The campsite is clean tidy and the owners/managers/staff could not have been more helpful if they tried. Our position was arguably the best on the site, we enjoyed good weather and good company. A good place to hang out all day at and a good location for Poole Swanage etc - tip if you want to get out to the beaches do it early, by mid morning routes and beaches are very crowded, mind you what else would you expect mid summer??? Our daughter loved it and enjoyed the play area where we could leave her knowing she was safe as there are staff always around. The shop sells just about everything and is very reasonably priced. Thank you to all for a great break away.

Arrival: Speedy and efficient, dealt with with a smile and friendly greeting even though many of that days new arrivals arrived at same time due to delays on motorway and once checked in we were shown to our pitch.
Pitch: Under tree and with mains electric and hardstanding, nice touch was TV aerial socket on mains electric box
Site Facilities: Absolutely first rate, site was busy and toilet/shower facilities were always spotless though some of our party (the short younger one)had small gripe about height of shower head. Shop well stocked and as always slightly more expensive but for the convenience etc willing to pay that few pence extra.
Our only gripe about South Lytchett is the price at over £ 40.00 per night for 3 adults, 1 child, car, touring van and awning it is very expensive when compared to some of the other sites locally.
Couple of good pubs within easy walking distance and both served good food.
Poole is well worth a visit (though thought the Harbour tour and Brownsea island 'Ferry' was something of a well conceived deception pay circa £10 per adult for 1 hour cruise to Brownsea island and round Poole harbour then when you are underway they advise you its another £8.00 to actually get on to the island due to National Trust charging admission fee)
Fantastic beach at Sandbanks approx 20 minutes by car.
Nearest big supermarket is Tesco around 10 minutes by car.

Just returned from a fabulous week at south lytchett manor campsite, the toilets are spotless and the piped music is a nice touch.staff are very helpful, showing us to our pitch and were always polite.
The site was quite busy but there was never a queue for the toilets or showers.
Sandbanks beach is fantastic and the sea is so clear you could think you were in the med!
The only thing which we didn't enjoy and this is no fault of the site is the traffic jams, unless you left early for the beaches you could be stuck in traffic for at least an hour.
Thank you for a great holiday and we will be booking up for next year to visit all the places that we didn't get time to see this time.

We have visited this site for our summer holidays over the past 2 years. Again this year we have been really impressed with the facilities and organisation. This is what all campsites should aim for! A little more expensive but well worth the few extra pounds.
Positives
- Fabulous shower/amenities blocks. Regularly cleaned and presented to a high standard the shower blocks are modern, bright and a pleasure to use. Two professional hairdryers provided in shower block - even had flowers. Vanity cubicles also available - providing hand pump soap and cloths for cleaning!
- Well maintained grounds with good sized level pitches.
- Friendly and helpful staff. Staff are efficient at their jobs: knowledgable, quick to act on information and service with a smile.
- Despite size of site and obvious quick turnaround, check in was hassle free and staff occasionally wondered over to check that we were OK.
- Well stocked shop at reasonable prices open throughout the day and into the evening. Stock a range of quality local produce - farmhouse cheese is fab!
- Extensive grounds including nature trail and small children's playground.
- Plenty of local restaurants/takeaways within a short walk or drive. Large Asda/Tesco superstores are with a 10 minute drive.
- Ideal position for Poole and Bournemouth beaches.
Negatives - nothing that's worth a mention.

Just back from two weeks staying in the manor field , same pitch as last year on the corner opposite the toilet block. We take a Montana 6 & canopy which fits in with room to spare, this pitch has a bit of a slope but has good drainage. However I would not recommend the pitches opposite to tents without a sewn in ground sheet as in major down pours it sits on the surface and takes awhile to drain away (this is our experience ,but we have had some pretty big storms when we have stayed here)
The toilet block spotless (even if it has rained) the staff do leave out mops & cloths so you can wipe down after you( which every lady did and according to hubby the men to) and this is the only site I have seen that supplies dish drainers & washer up bowls (for the less prepared camper)and plenty of hot water ! If you didn't much feel like cooking in the morning there was a cafe in the courtyard site across the field behind pitch 19 through the 'kissing gate'(it opens a 8.30am for the school hols) we didn't eat there but on the last morning got a wonderful fresh coffee from a very lovely lady to take away .
This end of the site is quite quiet even though we are opposite the toilet block (our choice)
The staff are great , shop good ,fresh eggs ,bread & meats from local farmers
This is a good site for us as its not so full on , pub within walking distance ,there are loads of great beach's and if you are a national trust member the ones on the studland side are free I would recommend here for a very chilled out holiday

I found this to be an excellent campsite in many ways.
The service was friendly and efficient, the campsite workers always gave us a smile and a wave when they passed our tent. They took us to our pitch and gave us precise instructions as to where to place the tent.
The facilities were very clean and I enjoyed the music in the washrooms! The fresh flowers in the washrooms were a nice touch.
It is located near enough to Poole and many other attractions in East Dorset. We could reach Poole Quay in 10 mins and Sandbanks beach in 15 mins by car. Both of which I highly recommend.
There is a cafe and craft centre adjoining the site, we had breakfast there, it was very good and reasonably priced. The site has a shop which was well-stocked.
I would definitely return.
